Trip in a classic car through Cuba

A road trip through the west of Cuba in a vintage car was the plan. With two teenagers on board, the mix of city, sightseeing, nature and beach was just right for us.

We started our trip with three days in Havana with from our point of view the best Havana Guide in the world, our dear Bernardo. He showed us many things behind the scenes, first one day on foot, then one day in our bright orange Chevy Belair. Great experience!

Afterwards we went to Vinales, where obviously time has indeed stood still. Unique nature to discover, great food, great hike to the tobacco farmers. From the landscape the with security most singular location of our journey.

We recommend everyone to spend 1-3 days in Vinales. This is worthwhile in any case. Just as unique as the nature in Vinales was our casa and host Fernando (s. picture), who, according to his own statement, conjures up the most delicious chicken in the world on his grill. We confirm this 100%!

We had a kind of beach house as a casa in Playa Larga. Breakfast directly on the beach (s. Picture) was splendid! We continued to Cienfuegos, a fascinating city that is fun to visit. After the complete lack of infrastructure in Playa Larga, we were happy to go out for a fine meal in the Palacio de Valle again. Great ambience and great sunset from the bar on the roof terrace.

In Trinidad as our penultimate stop we were overwhelmed by the dreamlike Casa Vivian y Pablo after a somewhat tricky approach through the narrow streets. Great house, very tastefully decorated and Vivian was a magical hostess. The mixture of history and music on every corner make Trinidad a fascinating experience. Quite great! In our opinion, Varadero can be saved as the last stop, because from our point of view the town did not match our impressions of the whole trip before. Ok, the white beach and the great sea was already impressive, but the rest is rather something for package tourists.

Dear Cuba Buddy Team, thank you very much for the excellent preparation and support in the planning and on site!

Relaxed Casas Particulares

We had many nice Casas Particulares. Playa Larga is certainly something for the people who really want to see something away from the tourist crowds. We had a wonderful relaxing time.
